ORIGAMI FOR KIDS

We delighted to share with you the availability of our workshop: Origami for Kids, with our paper artist, Michelle Lackenby

Michelle is extremely personable and has over 25 years of experience in the creative industry with extensive skills and knowledge of paper arts and crafts.

She teaches in workshops, Universities, corporate events, and runs many workshops for kids during school holidays.  She's generous with her knowledge and has a great passion for all things paper.

This class is kept to around 7 kids so our teacher can give them plenty of attention.

4th July - Themed around cacti, potted plants, and flowers

11th July - Themed around animals

To warm up, we will welcome the children with yummy homemade, all-natural, morning tea and let them introduce themselves a little before we start the class.

Parents are expected to drop their children off.  Please inform us of any allergies or special instructions.

We encourage parents to have a nice morning, exploring Fitzroy, or exploring any of the legions of amazing cafes.  One of our favorites is "Alimentary" at 251 Brunswick Street, which is located few minutes walk from us.

IMPROVING YOUNG MINDS ONE FOLD AT A TIME

Being able to transform a flat sheet of paper into a 3-dimensional form, using only hands, seems almost magical.

Origami is not just fun and pretty looking, research shows that it helps us focus, relaxation, and builds muscle memory.

Origami is commonly used as art therapy for good reasons and it is one of the best activities for developing children's cognitive and fine motor skills.

From age6 onward, children are typically able to understand instructions, rules and steps, and Origami provides a suitable activity to improve those developing skills.

There's also potential for Children to discover, through Origami, the principles of math and geometry and take their fun to the next level.
